It was our great pleasure to welcome Rachel Levy "home" to Millisle yesterday.

 

Rachel first came to Millisle as a child refugee shortly after the end of World War 2.

Against all the odds, she had survived the atrocities of Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen, having been taken

from her home village of Bhutz in the Carpathian Mountains in the latter stages of the war.

 

Rachel told her story to a packed audience on 26th January 2018, as our very special guest at our commemoration of Holocaust Memorial Day 2018

 

Millisle of course has a proud place in the annals of history, having been the location of "The Farm" - a place where many

children from Europe were able to be given refuge from the horrors of central Europe at that time.
